Śiva Sūtras

The Śiva Sūtras are the foundational aphorisms of Kashmir Śaivism, said to have been revealed to Vasugupta by Śiva himself. The text outlines the Yoga of Supreme Identity across three distinct upāyas (means or approaches):

  1. Śāmbhavopāya: The means of Śiva (supreme awareness).
  2. Śāktopāya: The means of Śakti (cognitive energy).
  3. Āṇavopāya: The means of the individual (focused action/meditation).
